“The Church In Action: Understanding the Times”

August 15, 2010: The Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D. D.

The purpose and the reason God is allowing discipline to come upon us is to prepare us for the Kingdom to come, for cleansing.  Do we understand that the more intense these situations become, perhaps, is a sign to us is that God is preparing us for some even more excellent than we can even think possible?   God allows this to be brought into our lives to correct us, to strengthen us, and to bring out the excellence in our lives.  Understand what is taking place.  Know the time.  This is not the time for punishment. This is the time for discipline.  This is the time when the Church should be growing, strengthening ourselves, being an overcoming Body instead of one that operates in fear and anxiety and gives up.  We are preparing to enter the Kingdom, and we can’t enter the Kingdom until the gifts are beginning to function in our lives.

“The Church In Action: Alert to Give and Serve”

August 8, 2010: The Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D. D.

Our faith can only be brought to fulfillment in Christ when we are walking according to the principles that He has given to us. We are to live out what we claim that we are.  We are to make a manifestation of the faith and the gifts that God has bestowed upon us so that we are different than the world. It is a choice.  God has given to us everything.  We lack in nothing, but we have to put it into action. We have to take the steps of faith to cause it to manifest.  When we do, it will not fail and we will make those purses that will not wear out.  In our need, God will be there because have followed His principles.

“The Church In Action: Rich Toward God”

August 1, 2010:  The Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D. D.

God desires our attention.  Our labor of doing the things that God gives to us bring fullness and quality of life.  It is based on our relationship with God.  We may have the greatest joy and peace in our hearts, but we may not have much of the materials things of earth.  If we have what God has given to us, then, it is more than enough.  Where can we find joy?  We might find happiness but it is temporary; but the joy of the Lord is eternal.  The joy of the Lord is without the ability to be stolen from us because it comes from God and it is eternal in our lives.

“The Church In Action: Opening Heaven Through Prayer” Print

“The Church In Action: Opening Heaven Through Prayer”

July 25, 2010:  The Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D.D.

It is prayer that God has provided for us, that He has opened the door through so that we can appeal and cry out to Him to see things changing or to receive that which is needed in life.  We have that ability to tap the throne of God and the ability to cause God’s favor to be poured out in a manifested way upon the lives of mankind. It is the priority of the Church in bringing this out.  It is the power that we have to make this change because the Spirit dwells within us.  The answer to the change is going to be through the Church.
