Palm Sunday – March 28, 2010
Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D. D.
Do we set our minds on poverty, failure, and defeat? Or do we set our minds on that victory which comes because of what God has done on this day through Christ? It is a week that begins in joy; but as we begin this week we turn sad right away. It seems as though there is turmoil; there is conflict; there is battle; but it is a week filled with joy. It is a week that caused Christ to cry because of what was coming and His compassion for Jerusalem. It is a week which established Him in strength because He knew His course. He knew His direction. He understood the timing, and He was ready. He was not running away, but there had to be a proclamation before the week began. There had to be a declaration before the events could begin to take place. They had to declare Him: King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Click Read More to view the transcript of the homily)

“Remember Our Submission Unto God”
The 5th Sunday In Lent – March 21, 2010 Archbishop Loren Thomas Hines, D. D. Our dependence upon Him is the very essence of life. Our thanksgiving to Him is the recognition that we understand and we are thankful for all that He has given. A silent people are a people of death; but a responsive people are those who have life and life that overcomes because of the thanksgiving. When thanksgiving is pouring out of our lives there is the fulfillment of responsibility or task. We bring honor to the One who is the Creator of all things. We do not seek to bring things into our own understanding, but see the greatness of God. We desire to bring praise to Him. (Click Read More to read the transcript of the homily) |
