MEDIA MINISTRY

The Holy Society of the Chroniclers, otherwise known as the Media Ministry, is the communications arm of the Cathedral of the King. It has been tasked to support the Church’s overall vision to disciple nations and equip the Body to full maturity through effective implementation of communication strategies using the vehicles of Print, Broadcast, Audio- Visual technology and now even online media.

It was established in December, 1981, with the release of its first newsletter, with NOEL, JESUS IS BORN as the banner story. In the years that followed, Sis. Norma, who was overseeing all the print projects being published, such as meditational books, brochures, devotional booklets, comics and other print materials, saw the need to expand the ministry by branching into broadcast media.

Little by little, God began to bring in people who not only had the background and technical skills of the field but were believers of the same vision. An enormous amount of finances was needed to prepare for this giant leap, but in faith, television production workshops and seminars were conducted. The Lord honored the childlike faith of this handful of media volunteer workers and caused the seed to blossom, grow and even supplied the increase. In 1986, the Television Division began airing LET THERE BE LIGHT and COMPLETED WOMAN in 1987. At about the same time, the Radio Division also produced “Ngayon ang bagong buhay” and “Arise, Shine” later revised to “Lumapit ka kay Hesus” and “Tanglaw sa Umaga.”

1991 proved to be a very significant year for the Media Ministry when the Print division, specifically, celebrated its 10th anniversary. In 1992, CEGID or TV Actors’ Guild was created to support the TV programs with dramatic skits – demonstrating the power of acting as a tool in communicating God’s message through the Television screen. Zoe or Photography Ministry and Kurios Artists’ Guild were likewise formed, to support the Visual Arts Division in staging Photo and Art exhibits.
